The Ask
How do you take a local celebration and turn it into a national political action movement.
The Answer
Pride NYC is always an iconic celebration, and as a parade that originally started as a riot, it was the perfect forum to take on the “Don’t Say Gay Movement”.
Using Flowcode QR technology, one person could instantly scan and reach all the anti gay legislators throughout the nation at once. Each scan triggered open letter protesting Don’t Say Gay laws, as well as excerpts from well known queer literature showcasing gay dignity, gay romance and even some gay lust. 200 custom QR enabled #BurytheBills signs were created, each clearly communicating a specific anti-LGBTQ+ bill, and placed throughout the parade route, ending in a spectacular interactive installation at the NYC AIDS Memorial Park.
